There was such a delicious feast at Iain and Jules’ engagement party that we didn’t get through all of the cake, what a shame, we had to divvy the rest up to scoff at home.

Jules, I need recipes for the adobo pork and chicken, and the vermicelli noodles, yum!

This recipe is from Rose Levy Beranbaum’s amazing book, ‘Rose’s Heavenly Cakes’. I picked up so many great tips from her perfectly tested and detailed recipes. Everyone loved the lemon peel roses. One small person was heard asking ‘can you eat them?’. Cute. Of course you could, but mine were a little on the firm side. Next time I would try to take a little less white pith with them as I peeled them as I think they were a little stiff.

A nice breakfast in Darwin

Today Phee and I had brekky at Ducks Nuts. They have an espresso bar and a bar & grill. We ate at the bar & grill outside on the deck and watched the world go by. The coffee is excellent, with silky milk and good flavour.

Phee had Eggs Benedict and I had French Toast. I didn’t need lunch after that!

Brasserie Bread, Darwin and Eating for Consolation

As if there wasn’t enough sourdough floating around at home at the moment! I was at Brasserie Bread in Botany the other day and just had to buy a sour cherry loaf. The occasion was a farewell for some dear friends who are sojourning in Darwin for a little while. Actually not so little, but let’s not get into that, I might need another slice or two if we do.
